Allen’s Hummingbird (female) feeding on a Penstemon

Allen’s Hummingbirds are very common in Southeast Arizona and they are frequent visitors to the feeders and flowers around our house.  This picture was taken in our front yard.  We are lucky that we have twelve for more species of hummingbirds that visit this area of Southeast Arizona.  We always have a few fairly rare ones that find their way here.  It helps that we are next to Mexico and with a similar climate to northern Mexico.  It is an enjoyable pastime to watch these amazing birds and of course to try to photograph them.
